Meet Karen Ehmke
Nutritionist B.S., M.S.
Karen Walker Ehmke, M.S. has a bachelor and master’s degree in nutritional sciences from the University of Wisconsin. In a unique graduate fellowship, she had the opportunity to offer nutrition services as part of a multidisciplinary team at UW’s Waisman Clinic. Karen’s first position upon graduating was at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee where she taught nutrition to nursing students.
Becoming interested in the natural food and natural healing systems that were emerging in the early 70s, Karen decided to join the small number of nutritionists and dietitians who were entering private practice. In 1976 she and her husband Jim Ehmke, also a nutritionist, opened Complete Health Services, the first alternative health clinic in the Milwaukee area.
Over time, Complete Health Services grew into a full-fledged integrated alternative medical clinic (see Jim Ehmke’s bio for more information). In her practice, Karen developed programs of nutrition and health for individuals and families. She was especially drawn to health education, teaching nutrition and natural food cooking classes in Milwaukee for 20 years. During that time, Karen and Jim also offered health lectures and speaking tours in many places.
Later, Karen developed a practice in flower essence therapy and, when she and Jim lived in Hawaii, she made flower essences from Hawaiian flowers. Karen also studied and practiced energy health balancing with the Quantum Xerroid (QX) devise.
Karen and Jim developed an interest in water purification during the early years of Complete Health Services. It was easy to conclude that the removal of toxins from drinking water was vitally important to health. Karen’s teaching was that “drinking pure water is one the least expensive ways to help one’s body the most.”
Over time, Karen began drinking more water with the interest of reducing the intake of less healthful beverages. Surprisingly, she noticed that drinking water had a beneficial effect on energy and well-being.
“I often enjoyed a subtle energy lift when I consumed healthful waters from various sources.”
After discovering structured water, Karen became an even more active proponent of the benefits of water. Two weeks after she began drinking structured water, Karen experienced a two-day intestinal detoxification process.
“It felt like the flu but it passed so quickly that I thought it might be a detox. I learned from Natural Action Technologies that detoxes are fairly common (and healthful) at the start of a structured water program. At that point I realized I had discovered a powerful healing tool.”
Drinking structured water, Karen gradually experienced a new significant improvement in energy and well-being. She believes this is due to the unique ability of structured water to enhance cellular hydration and to potentize the life energy (infrared) contained in water. (See “Science of Structured Water” (?))
Karen also promotes water because it is often deemphasized or even forgotten in health programs today.
“I like to remind people that our bodies contain about 60 % water. What could be more important to health than maximizing water nutrition? I encourage everyone to experience the health benefits of drinking structured water along with a bounty of delicious whole foods.”
